❤️ Hello Beautiful! ❤️
✨The Saloniste cordially invites you to a quasi-immersive experience: screening, discussion and exhibition — in response to the recent blockbuster, “The Substance.” ✨
In this divisive body horror film about aging, the protagonist (played by Demi Moore) acquires a special new medicine that allows her to be young. Sadly, we watch her abuse this newfound power in this tongue in cheek commentary about aging women in our society.
At this series of events, we wish to address such questions as:
* Why would the character – out of all possibilities – choose to relive her life (literally) once again and compete with herself, trying to beat her own success?
* What can our life strategies be to subvert the system that is (let’s be honest) so against aging women; manufacturing and subsequently capitalising on our fear to get old?
* Can we actually capitalise from getting old ourselves?
* How would we all use that drug from The Substance?
Come join us for a Saloniste take on “1980’s aerobic instructors gone mad-scientist” where we will have concocted an anti-aging tablescape fit for the most demented of chemists. Arrive hungry for candy pills and cassis syringes, for nutritious moisturisers and other medicinal delicacies your Saloniste doctors prescribe. 🧪👩🏼🔬💊
Suggested Dress Code:
1980s- 1990’s aerobics instructor; replete with leg warmers, leotards and bright colours, (or whatever your take on the topic may be). We have created a mood board attachment for your perusal 🤸🏼♀️🧘🏼♀️💪
